Finally, A Tablet PC, but it’s a Mac!

I’ve been wanting one of these for years, and I’d always assumed Mac wouldn’t make one. Plus, I’ve checked out the Windows tablet PCs, and yes, the tablets are nice, but they still run Windows. I prefer not to run Windows. It gets in my way.

Tom introduced me to Axiotron’s Modbook. I want one. Gotta have one. Uh-huh, oh yeah!

Take a look at this thing. It’s 13.3″ at 1280 x 800 res. This would certainly do the job for me!

TextMate error: Error loading /Library/ScriptingAdditions/ QXPScriptingAdditions.osax/

When posting to my blog via TextMate’s blogging bundle, I’m getting a strange error. The post is successful via xml-rpc, but the error is a bit annoying, if not just a little worrisome.

It didn’t always do this. I’ve noticed it just in the last few days, but it could have been going on for a few weeks without me realizing it.

How to check Plesk mail logs

Plesk uses qmail. You can check your mail logs here:

/var/log/maillog

I use this command to follow the maillog as it runs:

tail -f /var/log/maillog

You can use Control+C to get out.

Plesk, Email Piping/Email Pipe (osTicket / Trellis)

I was trying to get email piping working on a RHEL server that runs Plesk (8.3), and I was having no luck. I just wanted to test out both the osTicket and Trellis support ticketing apps, but I had the toughest time getting either to work well on Plesk.

I did finally get it working for osTicket, both locally and remotely.

The Thirsty Monk :: Tom the Beer Connoisseur

There’s a place in downtown Asheville called The Thirsty Monk. I was initially impressed the number of beers they had on tap. I’m pretty much a beer connoisseur. I love trying new beers, especially imports and microbrews. But I also love a good case of yellow domestic, like Coors Light or Bud Light… but they’re best in cans; that’s part of the anti-charm of yellow domestics.

Mod_Rewrite PHP No Input File Specified

So I launched a site. It was using nice clean rewrites on my dev server (partly local, partly fedora 8). After launching to a godaddy server, i was getting the error: No input file specified.. I knew my redirects/rewrites should have been working.

So, I did some searching, and after (yes, a gruelling 8 minutes), I was beginning to worry that I would have no answer, and would have to construct something very duck-tapish. I really didn’t want to have to do this, because the site needed to be online by 8am. It was currently 1am, and I haven’t slept in a good 20 or so.

So, I finally came across a post on pligg forums. This actually did it. Of course, this fix assumed that my rewrites were working ok, which they were.

Rant :: Bands that Suck

I’m getting sick of people claiming that bands just plain ’suck’. These are the same people that would also agree with the old “beauty is in the eye of the beholder.”
