Vicinity marketing: Computers, Technology, and Erotica

I just got back from being at a bookstore in Clearwater, Florida called Borders. This bookstore is just like any other large bookstore, like Barnes and Noble or Books a Million and the like. I glanced through a few computer techy books, and as I was leaving, I noticed a real gem of vicinity marketing [...]

Exploring the nature of fascination; are we all insane?

I find that I truly enjoy being fascinated with a particular topic or subject. It doesn’t necessarily matter what the subject is, and moreover, I find I can become fascinated with almost any topic. I don’t feel the need to master the subject; rather, maintaining an intrinsic fascination with something appeals more to me than [...]

Don’t put batteries next to CDs or DVDs

I didn’t really think about this until it was too late! I have a guitar case, and in it I kept a few extra 9-volt batteries for the acoustic guitar pickup. Well, at a recording session the other night, I threw some CDRs in the case. They weren’t touching the batteries; there were probably a [...]

Here’s a nice one for ya. It’s an apple/mac dashboard widget that will check your Google Adsense earnings. Simply install the widget, enter your login criteria, and slam. You’re golden! You can actually see the wavelength of the vibrating string at whatever note you’re playing. Try changing the note (ie finger the first fret, [...]

Finally, a Google Adsense iPhone application: iEarn

I’ve been keeping my eye out for this one for a while. Since Google’s mobile version of their site is loaded when I view google on the iPhone, it’s not easy to check Google Adsense earnings on the iPhone.

An Asheville girl changed her name to CutoutDissection.com

Only in my town would something like this happen. An Asheville girl changed her name from Jennifer to CutoutDissection.com, in hopes to dissuade animal dissections in public schools. Does this have anything to do with PETA? Yup, it certainly does.

Free concrete background images for website inspiration

My brother posted a few really nice shots of concrete textures. These shots can be used for creating edgy, grungy, or just textured backgrounds for your website. He’s released them for free use for any purposes, personal or commercial, so enjoy! Here’s that link again.

Bookeeper vs. Bookkeeper: Correct version of the word

I created a website for a client a few years back. There’s a staff page on the site, which lists staff members and their positions. In this list is a bookkeeper. I remember when I created the site, I wasn’t sure which one was the correct spelling: bookeeper or bookkeeper. My initial reaction was the [...]
