I created a website for a client a few years back. There’s a staff page on the site, which lists staff members and their positions. In this list is a bookkeeper. I remember when I created the site, I wasn’t sure which one was the correct spelling: bookeeper or bookkeeper. My initial reaction was the latter, with two Ks.
A few months ago, someone commented on the site and contacted me directly. He claimed that bookkeeper was misspelled. Well, I said thanks for your interest, but the correct spelling is bookkeeper, WITH TWO Ks.

Bookeeper (with one K) would imply someone who stores or keeps boos. Maybe the ghostbusters are bookeepers…
