Go ahead, cut and paste.

Too many times I’ve watched people using computers. Many aren’t even aware of what “Copy and Paste” even means. If you don’t know what it means, you should learn it. Period.

One of the most valuable tools I have as a web developer is the ability to copy text and paste it into another area. Yes, I know. To most of you this is a real no-shit-moment.

But to the others, get with the times and learn to copy and paste.

Now, onto the REAL HARD STUFF!

There’s another thing you can use: Cut and paste.

Cut does the exact same thing as copy, except it deletes the selected text and moves it to your clipboard. Far too often, I’ve watched professionals copy text, then hit the delete button, then go and paste it somewhere.

Yeah, it’s essentially the same thing, but it does save you a step. And in the field of computers, steps add up pretty damn quickly.

So if you’ve no clue what I’m talking about, go learn it. It’s easy. You’ll use it.

And if you’re a copier/paster, but are afraid of cutting, get real. Get with the times and learn to cut and paste. Come on.
