AT&T makes 3G twice as fast, but it’s not even available here

What great news! AT&T decided to double their 3G speed, putting it over 7 Mbps for 3G users.

That’s cool, but we don’t even have 3G available where I live and work, in Western North Carolina. Thanks, AT&T.

And while I’m at it, Brother’s iPhone got kinda messed up one day, and to replace it, we’d have to buy a newer iPhone, one that was made for 3G service. But in order to activate it, we’d need to upgrade our plan to get 3G coverage… yes, even though we don’t have 3G available here. WTF, AT&T? Thanks again.

Overall, I’m pretty happy with their service and the iPhone, but upgrading to a service that isn’t available, and paying for not even using it, well, that’s just crappy.

Funny, Jenny is working for AT&T and she says that if we bitched enough they would take it off… but after spending a whole hour point eight on the phone with those ballskinwrappers they wouldn’t budge.

Another funny. For some reason, every friend I have that’s ever asked to go hiking with me seems to have Verizon. In nearly every instance I can recall, they have had service when I have not.

Another not so funny. My phone did not work in an actual life and death situation. It took 10 minutes of time before we were able to call 911 because of AT&T. Had my friend had her Verizon phone with us (which worked everywhere) paramedics could have arrived 10 minutes sooner. In this case, it did not matter, but you can’t help to think that in other situations, that 10 minutes of time could have been the difference between life and death.

AT&T: More bars in more places, except in remote areas where life and safety hinge on cell phone coverage. Thanks AT&T, can’t wait until our contract expires.

What a crappy ass company I would love to take a piss on their corporate office sign.
